Personal Training Member of the Month: Catherine Edmond!

A new year, a new member of the month! Have you made any resolutions this year? Check through some of the interviews of our previous members of the month to see how dozens of our most successful clients achieve their goals.

While each client is different, as we try to note, the most important thing you can do to make consistent progress is to be consistent with your workout and diet habits! Catherine is yet another of our clients who shows up week in and week out. As a result, her form on lifts has improved drastically, as well as her levels of strength! We chatted for a bit with Catherine to get her take on her health and fitness:

Commercial real estate appraiser – involves lots of sitting, hence the need to work out!

How long have you been training at Capital?

Catherine: I’ve been training at Capital since beginning of December 2013. Before that, I had a  couple of different personal trainers since 2006.

How did you first get interested in fitness?

Catherine: At high school we had to do some kind of sport, so I played squash. Structured workouts like at Capital are similar.

What kinds of exercise have you done in the past?

Catherine: Before coming to Capital, I had a couple of different personal trainers. The accountability of a personal trainer is a necessity!

How do you find the time to be so consistent with your training?

Catherine: I work for myself, so thankfully I get to make my own timetable and come when I like!

What’s your favorite thing about working out with us at Capital?

Catherine: I like the variety of workouts and the fact that the trainers make me push myself most of the time. I need that, as I tend to take the easy way out!

What’s your favorite and least favorite exercise so far?

Catherine: I dislike squats with the bar, especially the front ones – but I come in on Mondays to do them anyway! Favorite is probably the plank. (Trainer note: That may be one of the first times I’ve ever heard someone say the plank is their favorite!) 

What kind of advice would you give someone who wanted to train, but wasn’t sure they were ready?

Catherine: It’s one of the best investments you can make in yourself, so start slowly and soon you’ll be feeling much better for it.
