May 5: Capital City Bike Ride 2017

  • Where: Dorothea Dix Park, 18 Hunt Drive. Raleigh, NC 27606

  • How Much: Free
  • What: Celebrate National Bike Month in Raleigh! The Capital City Bike Ride brings together our residents, city staff and government officials for a casual ride in our streets and greenways. The ride will begin at 8am at Dorothea Dix and will conclude at the State Capitol around 9:00 am. There will be a light breakfast and coffee!

May 5-14: 2017 Oaks & Spokes Bicycle Festival

  • Where: Various locations in Raleigh
  • When: Fri, May 5, 2017, 8:00 AM –Sun, May 14, 2017, 1:00 PM
  • How Much: Free
  • What: From May 5th to May 14th, there will be different bike-themed event hosted each day to get you pedaling. (for all levels of cyclists.) Get ready for ten days of bicycle-related activities downtown Raleigh!

May 6: Bull City Run, Walk, Roll 5K

  • What: This is a 5K that celebrate our Veterans, their families & loved ones with a healthy, family- friendly & fun-filled event!

May 6: Bike MS Celebratory Kickoff

  • Where: Anderson Point Park, 20 Anderson Point Drive, Raleigh, NC 27610
  • When: Sat, May 6, 2017 - 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • How Much: Free
  • What: Offering a 25 mile greenway ride to celebrate bike month,  as well as a "Grocery Grab" with Oaks and Spokes. All cyclists, friends & family are welcome to join!

May 6: Comics for a Cure

  • Where: Ultimate Comics at 6120 Farrington Rd, Durham.
  • When: Sat, May 6, 2017 at 9:00 AM
  • How Much: $30
  • What: "Comics For A Cure" is a Superhero themed 5K event! Costumes are not required...but are a fun addition to the event. The race is only the beginning to a full day of fun activities!  May 6th marks National Free Comic Book Day and Ultimate Comics is ready to celebrate. There will be free comic books for all, live music and free food & drinks. Also expect great store sales,  martial arts demos and (blade free) sword battling for kids, face painting and many other fun, super-hero related activities!

May 6: Outdoor Eagle Fit Day

  • Where: North Carolina Central University, 1801 Fayetteville Street, Durham, NC 27707
  • When: Sat, May 6, 2017, 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
  • How Much: Free / Fundraiser
  • What: Join us for one fun & challenging outdoor full body workout including games, drills, cardio and core exercises, all provided by the NCCU Campus Rec instructors. This is a family fun fitness event and a fundraiser to help NCCU Campus Recreation Instructors attend The Fitness Mania Conference in Atlanta.

May 6: Komen NC Triangle Race for The Cure

  • What: 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk to support Susan G. Komen Foundation.

May 14: Mother's Day Yoga

  • What: Join the fun at Fleet Feet Raleigh for a free "Yoga For Runners" class  and work up an appetite for your Mother's Day brunch!

May 20: Dragon Obstacle Course Race

  • What: The Dragon Obstacle Course race is one of the most unique and challenging obstacle races you'll take part in! featuring a 5k and over 20 obstacles, where 1/3 of the obstacles will be fun, 1/3 will be challenging, and 1/3 will be very difficult, even for the most elite athletes. Get ready for a challenge and some obstacles with a twist!

May 27: Yoga with Goats for All Levels (1, 2, and 3)

  • Where: Hux Family Farm, 1923 Shaw Road, Durham, NC 27704
  • When: May 27 1:30PM - 2:30PM
  • How Much: $15
  • What: Join the fun with goats and sheep yoga! This class is for Level 1 and above yogis. You will be lead through a yoga flow by your instructor, while the goats and sheep wander around, eating, playing, even sometimes "participating" with you (i.e. jumping on you, but not to worry, those babies weigh less than 8 lbs!)

May 27: Yin Yoga with Goats (All Levels including beginners)

  • What: Yin Yoga with Goats is a unique event you won't wanna miss! This is a class for all levels, using position holds to work deep tissues, and help you expand your flexibility. This promotes a relaxed almost meditative state of mind and the goats add a fun atmosphere to this wonderful & relaxing yoga style.

May 29: Mindful Bodies Memorial Day Monday Zumba/Mixxed Fit Party

  • Where: Millennium Sports Club, 3419 Hillsborough Rd., Durham, NC 27705
  • When: Mon, May 29, 2017, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • How Much: $10
  • What: Join in on this fun Zumba / Mixxed Fit Party where all are welcome! There will be prizes to win, just wear Red, White & Blue costumes and/or wear your FitBit or activity tracker to enter our step challenge!

May 29: Remembrance Ruck March

  • Where: My Way Tavern, 522 Saint Marys Street, Raleigh, NC 27605
  • When: Mon, May 29, 2017, 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM
  • How Much: $20-25
  • What: March through Raleigh for 22km (ideally while carrying at least 22kg) to show solidarity for our service members and raise awareness on the suicide epidemic that is sweeping the military & veteran community. All proceeds will be donated to USO of North Carolina.
