Brad (aka Brad-ass, aka B-rad) has been one of Capital’s longest-standing clients. He’s deserved the “member of the month” honor for quite some time and we couldn’t be happier to grant him the title this November!
While he of course embodies the spirit of consistency that all of our Members of the Month possess, Brad also brings his fabulous sense of fun…and ‘fabulous’ sense of humor to every class. If you ever note any of your coaches telling you bad puns, you can rest assured Brad was the source.
But despite inducing a lot of eye rolls, Brad’s charisma and disposition make every SPX class he comes to more fun for fellow clients and coaches alike. (“Hey Brad, think you can do these tricep extensions with this weight?” “I’m not sure, but I’ll give it a tri! Hahaha”)
We asked Brad to share his perspective on life, fitness, and bad puns.

How long have you been training at Capital?
Brad: Since it opened about 2 and a half years ago.
How did you first get interested in fitness?
Brad: I grew up playing sports, but when those ended I knew I needed to exercise to balance out my lifestyle of eating out and having a few drinks with friends…now I’m much more interested in being lean and fit, both from working out and my diet.
How do you find the time to be so consistent with your training?
Brad: Planning ahead…I typically arrange my workouts right after work and before social engagements
What’s your favorite thing about working out with us at Capital?
Brad: The Coaches! I’ve worked with every employee from Capital Strength at one point or another. No matter who I’m training with, not only do I receive great instruction on proper form and technique with various exercises, I also receive a lot of solid nutrition advice…plus, they’re so fun to be around!
What’s your favorite and least favorite exercise so far?
Brad: My favorite is hitting the tire with the sledgehammer! My least favorite is rear foot elevated split squats.
What kind of advice would you give someone who wanted to train, but wasn’t sure they were ready?
Brad: 3 things:
- Start gradually – getting in shape is a marathon, not a sprint. You don’t wanna burn yourself out in the first week!
- Set a goal on what you’d like to achieve – Whether it’s losing 1 pound per week, or fitting into a pair of jeans by spring…set yourself an achievable goal to work towards…then reward yourself with something you love!
- Have accountability – Working out is a bit overwhelming when you first start…however, I found that I need support from my Trainers/Coaches…they know me better than anyone and they push me to elevate my fitness to the next level
