Consistency is the key to success with your health and fitness goals, and none of our clients embody this principle as well as David McConnell.
One of Capital’s longest standing clients, you’ll always find David at the gym Monday, Wednesday and Friday for a group class in the mornings. It’s like clockwork.
I got a chance to chat with David about his history at Capital and his thoughts on working out:
Occupation? Professor of Geology at NC State
How long have you been training at Capital?
I had been working with Matt at Body by Design before this. Then he opened Capital, and I’ve been here ever since.
How did you get first interested in your fitness?
I had been running for several years but had never lifted weights and thought it would make a good change. I like the variety and opportunity to work out with others.
How do you find the time to get your workouts in so consistently?
I schedule them in the morning before work and before anything else can get in the way, it sets me up for the day.
What’s your favorite thing about working out with us at Capital?
I like the small group cross training, the people in the group make it more fun and the trainers are all easy to work with and really look out for the members.
What is your favorite and least favorite exercise?
My favorite is the deadlift and least favorite is anything on the versaclimber (even though I know its good for me!)
What tips would you offer someone who wanted to get started on their fitness, but was nervous to do so?
You will be surprised how many people at the gym are just like you!
