In late 2009, Matt discovered his passion for fitness training and for helping others achieve their physical and personal goals. After 3 years of training independently, he made the leap to bring his style of training to the Raleigh area, and founded Capital Strength & Conditioning in June of 2012.

Matt has held certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Personal Trainer,  CPR/AED certification from the American Red Cross, and the Functional Movement Screen Level 1 Specialist certification. He's also trained under some of the top coaches in the industry. Including Mark Rippetoe (Starting Strength), Martin Rooney (Training For Warriors), and Chris Duffin (Kabuki Movement Systems).

Through years of personal experience and a passion for learning, he provides fitness expertise, strength coaching and nutritional consulting to give you the edge in your training.

Matt takes a direct approach to training and development. He aims to provide the most effective methods to build strength, transform the body, and increase performance. By approaching training as an eternal student, he never stops learning and applying the latest and most effective training methods to his clients.

Matt graduated from NC State University in 2007. He has experience working with D-1 college athletes and adults of all ages and backgrounds. Taking an individual approach to each of his clients, Matt truly believes that the best fitness program is the one that you can stick to and find enjoyment in.
